Damn , that is a bummer about Sergio. I guess if your number comes up it doesn’t matter who you are. A lot of Mopar and Jeep fans have to give him thanks for saving the brand when they crashed and burned in 09. Even with the government bailout without Sergio and Fiat stepping up The automotive landscape would probably look much different today.

  2. XA351GT Says:

I’m sorry but that GM ride share service sounds like a crock. You get 60% they get 40% but you’ll be on the hook for the insurance and maintenance. Knowing how people beat the hell out of rentals there is a snowball’s chance in hell that I’d even consider it.

  3. Drew Says:

Every tragedy comes with lessons. Sergio was a very astute business man and frank communicator. The latter was very refreshing amongst CEOs (despite deLorenzo’s rants). But years of smoking and non-stop work take their toll on the circulation system… no doubt conspiring to the stroke.

Some lessons – don’t smoke and delegate more.

  4. Albemarle Says:

Sergio was responsible for creating and maintaining more good paying jobs than any politician. The industry will be less interesting without him. Good guy.

  5. Lex Says:

My Profound condolences to the Marchionne Family on the lost of a great man. Sergio will forever be remembered as a no-nonsense corporate giant in the automotive industry.

  6. Lambo2015 Says:

#2 I felt the same way when I heard about sharing your personal car. But I feel like Uber would even be a losing proposition too. Put all those miles on your personal vehicle you cover all the insurance and maintenance and get paid a relative small fee in return.

  7. Lisk Says:

I always felt Sergio was one of the more down to earth CEOS, more approachable. I’m sure he enjoyed the limelight, but in his case it was well earned. I’m not sure what to make of the Jeep guy running the place. I’m sure he’ll do well in FCA, NA, but I’m not so sure about Fiat world wide. God Bless, Sergio.

  8. XA351GT Says:

Lambo I agree with you 100% . I wonder how many people doing Uber are unaware that their Car insurance may have provisions that don’t include using your vehicle for work. Only to get in a accident find out the insurance says your on you own and then they get sued by their passengers. Not a risk I’d be willing to take ley alone the wear and tear on your vehicle and that passengers may wind up destroying your car if their drunk or high and get sick in it. No thanks.

  9. Buzzerd Says:

Honda HRV- 30 HP away from being really good, like a lot of the competition

  10. Terry Quinn Says:

What does “GM doesn’t need to keep as many cars on the books” mean?
