    A friend is interested in a Maverick or Santa Cruz. Can’t buy the ones written up, only higer priced versions. No production of entry level models. As a result, high prices and non avaliabilty of ones in the auto press.

    Faraday Future – I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve read half a dozen stories about their start-of-production date over the last 6 years and none have panned out. They still don’t seem to have an abundance of funding, which certainly helps. Not saying it won’t happen, but I wouldn’t bet much of my own money on it.

    My understanding is the $35 k Model 3 had a gutted range by software to meet a Canadian subsidy rule. After purchase, there was an ‘upgrade’ that fully enabled the car.

    It seems that even the smaller dealership “chains” are buying up other dealers. A company in or near Melbourne, FL recently bought what used to be Jim Rathman Chevrolet, which has changed hands a couple times since it was Rathman. They also have two Chrysler stores, Mazda, and Kia.

    Not sure why heads up displays aren’t more widespread/popular? I quite like them.

    6 I’ve had a HUD for about a month, and while I have it turned on, I rarely look at it. The speedometer in the main display is big and bright, and easier to see. A car that could use a HUD is a Tesla 3, where you have to look far to the side to see the speedometer.

    Sean, More questions about ‘dealer laws’. I get that the laws were intended to protect dealers from having to compete with their OEM, but what about other OEMs? ie Could Tesla buy a Ford dealership? What about foreign OEMs that don’t yet do business in the US? Could Great Wall buy a Ford dealership? What about individuals that control an OEM? Could Elon Musk personally own Tesla dealerships in states that require cars to be sold through dealerships? There has to be some loopholes here.

    8 I’ve always thought a loophole Tesla, or others could use, would be to work out something with Autozone, Advance, etc. to make them dealers.

    I’m seeing more Teslas since I got back to Florida, no doubt because they opened a store about 4 miles away. There aren’t, and probably won’t be any at my condo complex because of no “home” charging, but I’m seeing more on the road, and at houses I drive by.

    The Polestar 5 looks sharp and futuristic – but with that swooping roof, I can better picture it as a top of the line Citroën.

    There are so many new EVs coming out of China and slowly beginning to make their way to Europe these days that something like Faraday doesn’t move the needle.

    I’m surprised that the next Ford EV is going to be the Lincoln Corsair, especially if it is going to be built from the bones of the Mach-E. The Mach-E seems to be closer in size to the Nautilus, so I would have thought that it would have been replaced as an EV. Ford has already said that they are building a BEV in the Explore/Aviator space, so if the Corsair were to go up in size/class, that would push out the Nautilus!

    From interviews with Sandy Munro with the Faraday CEO who came from BMW then Byton , their target is the RollsRoyce brand and pricing, and luxury,how they will sell is another matter, Sandy and the crew did spend some time going over the car with a fine tooth comb, we will see how the company survives, Volvo should do well, and Geely has other brands that has Volvo engineering inputs, the ZEEKR brand is one and Geely owns Lotus, a well known UK Sports car maker.

    Tesla will never go with the traditional NADA or Dealer model, they are doing well and are well capitalized now,adding a Dealer network will just bring down the company, Toyota selling its RAV4 prime for $40,000 above MSRP is toxic news,Sean and John please comment on this,Thanks

    11 Maybe the usual “next generation bloat”? The Mach-E is about midway between the Corsair and Nautilus in size, so maybe the next Corsair will “grow” to the size of the Mach-E, and the next Nautilus will be the size of the current Aviator. Or might they drop the Edge/Nautilus? Do they really need that many lifted wagons that close to the same size?

    13 Toyota isn’t selling RAV4 primes at above MSRP. Some dealers are.

    While I got my customer order Corvette for MSRP, I suspect some dealers are selling them at well above MSRP, as are places like Carmax with lightly used ones. Carmax would probably buy mine for a lot more than I paid for it. I’ve heard that a big Penske Chevy dealer in Indianapolis is selling customer order Corvettes for MSRP, but they sell used ones for much more, when they get them. Do car companies have rules on what dealers can do, in this regard?

    EV boats seems interesting, as the battery packs are so heavy and they strive to keep them light. It would be a huge advantage to make an EV jetski since those are so loud. Quieter lakes would be nice. Just wonder how they compare for weight and range.

    The electric watercraft I find intriguing are hydrofoil skateboard things. They don’t have much practical use, but would be fun, and the technology to make them controllable is impressive.
