This is a journalist with some form of car knowledge? He explains to his viewers that the reason you need to replace your tires is because they are low profile? Profile has zero to do with the capabilities of a tire in snow/rain conditions. The tread design and compound is the only thing that determines the effectiveness. This is the part of the tire that has contact with the ground. Height of a tire from ground to wheel (profile) would never impact the performance. This is something that I hear on a regular basis from people that have very little knowledge of the automotive world. I did not expect it from an automotive journalist.
