The Chevy Cruze Diesel is one of the most anticipated releases in the U.S. this year because if it sells well, we could see more automakers introduce diesels. But there’s more to the car than just the engine, here’s Sean McElroy with all the details.

Why should I buy the added complications of a diesel to the Cruze? It doesn’t add anything to the car except misplaced bragging rights about owning a narrow power band automobile with an extremely dangerous high pressure pump and no sparking plugs, Wow! such a deal. And, now that the EPA has ordered the sulfur out of the fuel, I can’t brag about it going 200,000 miles before the engine wears out. I can no long exercise my sick little mind by smoking out the slow drivers I pass by over-revving.

And, to top it all off, I drove by a fuel station the other day and diesel was selling for $4.02 a gallon while low Octane was $3.53. Outside of just helping the greedy oil companies sell their other refinery products, I cannot see any positives for me in buying one. Send it back to the suckers in Europe.
