Kia Stinger: Don’t Have to Explain Beauty – NAIAS 2017

January 10th, 2017 at 12:40pm

Kia is not known for performance, but that could change with the all-new Stinger. It’s a rear-wheel drive sports sedan with bold styling. When it hits the market later this year it will have two engine options, the top of the line being a twin turbo 3.3L V6 that pumps out 365-horsepower. Kia’s COO and Executive VP, Michael Sprague says, “you don’t have to explain beauty,” if someone questions why you bought a Stinger.

Stinger, interesting name. It reminds me of the Ford Probe.

To my untrained eye the Stringer looks like a tricked out Kia Optima on steroids. I should have been rolled out under the Genesis brand. It probably would be more successful as a Optima GT.

I LOVE this car! For the past 20 years I’ve been wanting a NICE 4 door hatchback with good power, rear/all wheel drive at a good price. This checks all the boxes with me. Stunning car, well done KIA! This may very well be my next car if the price is right.
