    The Vette was the best cheap US sports car but the interior was poor and the handling on twisty roads were poor. GM wanted to sell these cars outside the US but non-US car reviewers were not impressed by low tech, poor road handling on good roads and crappy interior. Buyers were willing to pay more for better quality.
