  1. Jim Haines Says:

The autonomous racing will be a failure unless companies use it as a test bed and will not care if anybody notices. We already see the formula E already shedding company support and sponsors because nobody cares and tv and steaming ratings are zero.

  2. Kit Gerhart Says:

The autonomous racing might go over, if there are spectacular crashes.

  3. ChuckGrenci Says:

Autonomous racing; I wonder how the algorithms decide who gives way when another car wants to pass. I would think, since they are racing, that they would be set-up, for the win, and not yield to the other (I’m thinking even humans with their skin in the game, don’t always yield). I know I would watch at least one race; then decide if there is any merit to the series.

  4. Lambo2015 Says:

Not to get into a political debate but its sad that so many people are willing almost eager to give up their rights. No matter your stance on vaccinations we should all agree that a mandate from any president isn’t a law and doesn’t hold water for anything than his desire.
For so many companies to just drop in line and follow along is amazing to me.
Granted they are just asking for status and hopefully preparing to put in place whatever testing is needed to continue this charade.
Really wish more people took their rights and freedom more seriously as the ones we give up today are ones your grandkids will never know existed.

  5. Lambo2015 Says:

So whats Lucid going to do after it fills its 13k orders? With a $77k price tag and being a new start up with no history of reliability or quality I’d be surprised if many people are willing to throw that kind of money on a vehicle that could be bankrupt in a couple years. People have to know that not all these start ups are going to make it. Not saying Lucid wont as they seem to have accomplished the biggest hurdle getting production started. You know how people say to avoid a first year production car.. Well how about first year production of the first year a company producing anything. I wish them well but they certainly have the odds stacked against them.

  6. GM Veteran Says:

Its interesting how autoworkers are classified as Ford employees but sometimes act as if they are UAW employees, depending on the topic of the day. To me, if the name on the paycheck is Ford, then you need to follow the same rules and policies as all of the Ford employees. Ditto for GM and Stella workers. (that’s my new nickname for Stellantis because I’m tired of the extra syllables; plus they both sound equally stupid)

  7. GM Veteran Says:

Why is that autonomy is supposed to be far safer than having a human control the vehicle, yet all of these shuttles top out at 20 mph or less? Where is the benefit to the rider? Its like inventing the Maglev train and having it top out at 40 mph!

  8. Lambo2015 Says:

I believe Citroen is on the right path of making a skateboard with quick change pods. Even the funding of the pods is a unique idea and could be popular. However the skateboard shown is way to low to the ground for actual applications those shown would be hung up and bottomed out on the first ramp entry into a parking lot or slow bump/pothole. The design would certainly need some changes. Especially if they want top get into the delivery service where a company like a lumberyard would need the ability to deliver materials on a job site where the drive is under construction.

  9. Lambo2015 Says:

6 The reason is the power of the Union. They can easily ask the salaried folks to do whatever the higher ups want on a whim. The Union will protect the employees from such nonsense and require some due process before just jumping through whatever hoops are laid out.
My wife is a nurse in a major hospital and the same thing happened there. The Hospital said the Vaccine is mandatory for all the staff like janitors and cafeteria workers and management. However the Union so far has protected the nurses. Not because the union is against the vaccine but against the hospital forcing people to take part in an experiment.

  10. Albemarle Says:

So Citroen have money and design time to throw away. They’d get more bang for their buck by doing some good projects for society rather than proving how impractical a company can be. Sweating to the oldies while rowing to your high powered Manhattan job. Sure hope he shares his trip on social media.

  11. Kit Gerhart Says:

4 Maybe the president, and officials at a number of companies would, you know, like this pandemic to end, as most people wanted polio to end in the 1950s.

5 Even if Lucid doesn’t survive, the cars might be worth a lot some day. Tucker made only about 50 cars, and they are now worth a lot of money. No, I’m not serious about a Lucid being good as an investment, either if the company makes it or not. A DeLorean is now worth about $40K, half it’s cost when new, if adjusted for inflation.

  12. GM Veteran Says:

9 I wasn’t talking about the vaccine issue in particular, its just another example of the difference between employees and UAW-Ford employees.

And, I think with over 300 million doses given, we are way past the experiment stage with the vaccine. Especially given the ill effects of getting Covid if you have not been vaccinated. Honestly, no government or company should have to tell their employees or citizens to get the vaccine. Its simply the smartest option one can exercise in this pandemic.

There are many people in other countries that would gladly take those doses, and are undoubtedly scratching their head as to why this is even an issue in our country.

  13. XA351GT Says:

So how doesn’t asking for someone’s vaccination status violate health privacy LAWS? SO if they ask and you refuse , then what ? I’m with you Lambo @#4 Once you give up rights it is very unlikely you’ll get them back. As far as these vaccinations go If you allow yourself to be bullied into them , what will they mandate next? Where does it ever end. Global death rate vs total global population is .01 %. There are also questions of how this doesn’t violate the Nuerenberg agreement that no one can be forced into medical procedures treatments or drugs against their will. If someone doesn’t feel safe given all the misinformation and mishandling by the WHO and the CDC they shouldn’t be forced to take something that there is absolutely NO long term safety studies done on. Most drugs from start to FDA approval take 12 years to be approved , This hasn’t had 12 months testing before being thrown at people. Maybe time will tell if it’s reallt safe or not , but someone having doubts about it is natural. The fact that NY is preparing to fire thousands of health care workers for refusing it should send up red flags. They should know it’s safety more than anyone.

  14. cwolf Says:

    6) GM Vet., All whom are employed by Ford ARE Ford employees and not UAW employees. They are only under the representation of the UAW. Also, as there is a national agreement (contract), each local has their own agreement for a particular plant. These contracts are, in effect, an agreement by both management and labor to make a plant operate efficiently.
Plant workers who are not unionized often have an elected body to represent the whole. The only difference is the power the UAw has due to larger numbers. There are pros and cons for each.

  15. Lambo2015 Says:

11 Biggest difference is the polio vaccine was a vaccine and tested and approved. The current shot is an experiement that didn’t even pass animal trials and is not FDA approved. The Media has done a good job or making the easily swayed think its approved but the FDA has only approved a biological license application. The product (Also not available in the US) is NOT approved but the application is.. That’s the big difference.
12 The amount of doses given isn’t what differentiates a trial experiment from an actually approved product. Or apparently you forgot about the 1979 swine flu vaccine that was pulled after it was linked to Guillian-Barre syndrome. Yet according to the CDC 6,207 people have died from the CV shot in just the US as of July 26th.

The long term affects may not be realized for many years. If there is a bad side effect its too bad for those that took the shot. No one is legally liable so sorry is all you’ll get. If it does get approval those that haven’t taken it can choose to at that time. But it should be a choice.
I have both parents that have taken the shot and so I don’t wish there to be anything bad associated with it. But I also have two brothers that took it and with 6 weeks of each other had strokes. No history or underlying conditions just out of the blue they both had strokes. My older brother 57 will have to retire early as he can no longer walk or use much of his right side. He has to sell his house cause the bedrooms and full baths are on the second floor. Huge changes and of course no one will say for sure it has anything to do with the shot. But they also haven’t provided any other possible causes.
So we have many people that say hey Ive gotten it and I’m fine which the same can be said for Covid. Its out there its real and many who haven’t taken it are fine. So that’s a stupid argument.
So maybe the smartest option is really waiting for an actual vaccine that is approved and safe and not just because our senile President with no medial credentials says so.

Like I said before once you taken it lets all hope it is safe long term. If not well there isn’t any turning back. wishing you hadn’t taken it wont reverse anything. Which is why the Nuremburg code of 1947 was written. You should probably read it.

  16. cwolf Says:

    15) Lambo, I suggest you look at the FDA website.
These vaccines are approved and all the testing that you are doubting have been performed.
The development of virus drugs has been going on for years. Once a vaccine for a certain virus is needed, the scientist look at the many options previously developed, then select those witch will accept the target from the virus in question (such as covid). Pharms, like Park Davis and others, were able to move quickly to get FDA approval because much of the testing had been already performed. I hope this helps you avoid combining snippets of misunderstood data and turning them into a false conclusion.
My wife was a director of product testing and development for several large Pharms. The method to satisfy the FDA has not change one iota.

  17. Roger T Says:

Lambo is the new Larry :)

  18. Joe G Says:

11- I truly believe this ‘pandemic’ will never end. There is too much money involved for big pharma. We will have endless variants, and endless ‘booster’ shots. There are effective and inexpensive tratments that are being withheld.
4- Very well said Lambo. I keep drawing comparisons to history of governments that started demonizing a part of the population, and taking away their rights. I am 63 and have never seen anything like this in my lifetime.
16- Really? Please look up the VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) for COVID vaccines to see the misunderstood data. Please look to the history of the 1976 Swine flu vaccine pulled after a small fraction of adverse events compared to the current shot.

  19. Lambo2015 Says:

16 Its really sad that you are also that mis-informed but apparently believe whatever news organization you watch. If you had actually gone to the FDA’s website like I did you would see they have not fully approved any vaccine. If you read what it says You’ll find Authorized NOT approved they only have Emergency use authorization.

They have in August approved Comirnaty for 16 and older based on two trials that will not be complete until 2023 with a dozen more needed. Good luck finding it here in the US. So what everyone is getting is still the Experimental drug.

If you have a link to an approved vaccine please share.

  20. Lambo2015 Says:

17 Great addition to support your position.

  21. Ziggy Says:

Of course no one can make you get the vaccine shot, but if you insist on being ignorant of the facts then businesses and other organizations can take action against you, and if you don’t like it then just keep telling yourself that you are free, free to die, free to pass along Covid to others, free to spread misinformation, free to watch your loved ones get sick and pass away because they listened to you. Enjoy your freedom while you have it because odds are Covid is going to get you and the only freedom you will have then is what to put on your grave stone.

  22. Rey Says:

There are lots of Rivian Pre Production drives now on Youtube , they test drove the Electric SUV and Pickup in Colorado, the scribes fromall the EV publications were invited, Trasport Evolved and Inside EVs amoung them , 10,000 ft above sea level, First Drive report offroad,These BE Trucks are probably rewriting the OffRoad rules, the Jeep GC and LandRover have competition, these trucks are true 4 wheel Electric motors,as in one motor per wheel.,Those interested in camping will be impressed by the “Camp Kitchen ” option.

  23. cwolf Says:

    18-19)
It only took me seconds to search the data you refuse to accept, either out of denial, sheer ignorance or both. I will no longer attempt to change the minds of those who could be gullible enough to be convinced that the sun rises in the West, then try to convince the wiser they have been duped by a government ruled by little green men.
The COVID-19 vaccine was approved 8/23/2021 for 16 and older individuals.
Granted for emergency use for 12-15 year olds.
Once the data has been “coded”, the drug will too gain approval, but like all clinical trials and studies, it is a careful step-by-step process.
As you can see, I have not and do not make comments based on the news, but actual and factual first sources.

    https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-first-covid-19-
    vaccine

  24. cwolf Says:

VAERS clearly states the information contained is UNVARIFIED reports of adverse effects! This is not the site Pharms and doctors use to submit there findings and, more importantly “coded” information. ANY Tom Dick and Harry can reply anyway they wish without any sense of truth or fact.
These are the exact type of sites that feed anti-vaxers and you expect others to accept this trash as gospel just because it fits your cause.
Well, pal, go sell your snake oil somewhere else because most of us just won’t buy this pile of crap!

  25. cwolf Says:

    To my other commenter friends:
Please accept my apology for wasted time on issues not auto related. I can only withstand reading only so much BS before feeling the need to address these unfounded falsehoods. I’m sure many of you have become as disgruntled as I but refrain , knowing it’s a waste of your time.

  26. Drew Says:

@cwolf – Thank you, sincerely. 15&18 don’t understand that in any large population in a certain time window, some people die. The causal factors cannot be blamed automatically on the vaccine. 6207 out of nearly 200,000,000 vaccinated citizens have died from unknown causes… versus almost 700,000 have died from COVID (and nearly everyone in the hospital due to COVID or dying from COVID now are unvaccinated). Such resistance to the vaccine means the ill-effects of the pandemic to last longer than necessary… and nearly as importantly is causing the delivery delay if Kit’s C8.

  27. XA351GT Says:

If that is a 1974 Celica liftback that is a JDM import. We didn’t get the liftbacks until 1976 and 1977 . The Japanese got it 1973 other Asian countries in 1974. A closer look at this car it is probably RHD.

  28. XA351GT Says:

26 700,000 died From Covid or with covid ? There is a difference . Many deaths being counted as Covid related were not from Covid many were not even aware they were infected. We all read about people dying in car accidents and later tested and said to have been covid positive. So did they die from Covid or a having a steering wheel crush their chests? We have been lied to and and at best mislead every step of the way with this political football.

  29. Lambo2015 Says:

cwolf this is the stance that amazes me about so many people and my parents are included in this group. For whatever reason the fear of dying makes rational thinking impossible. After both my brothers have stroked this year they still encourage me to get the vaccine. The media has everyone in so much fear they eagerly give up rights and fall in line. Its not a matter of being pro vac and anti vac for me its forcing of people to take any drug without full disclosure. And if you are so confident its safe then go ask for the information packet that is supposed to be included with the shot. Ask your wife how many other drugs are sent with an information packet that’s blank?

The most hilarious part of this is they told everyone to get the shot and everything would be fine. But vaccinated people were still getting it. So then to explain that they come out and say, yes with the vac you can still get covid and you can still transmit covid. So all you on your high righteous horse about doing your part are in the exact same boat. You can be just as infectious as someone not vaccinated. The difference is they say YOU have a better chance of survival. So you have done your part to protect YOU. Doesn’t help anyone else in fact the vaccinated are typically not symptomatic which means you could be carrying it to grandma and not even know it cause you’ll feel fine making you more dangerous than someone who knows they are sick.
But again these are critical thinking steps that make sense based on information that isn’t being refuted. So yes everyone do what you feel is best for you and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing.
I already had Covid and survived like 99.98% of the population does, so I have no reason to get some synthetic product put into my body that tries to do what my natural immune system does quite well.
If they find out that there are serious complications 5 years from now from these injections will you still feel it was the right thing to do, or will you wish you demanded more information? Either way its too late and you cant go back. At anytime I feel I have enough information to change my mind I can always decide to take the shot at that time. Until then I’ll wear masks and do whatever testing is required to make everyone else feel safe. I’m just saying I don’t make decisions based on fear. If I die cause I wasn’t fearful enough then I guess that’s what I deserve. But considering Ive had it, and if I get it again somehow I still have a 99.98% chance of survival I don’t think the risk is worth the reward.

  30. Lambo2015 Says:

23 BTW your link just takes you to the FDA website and say “page not found”
To save you the trouble yes the vaccine you are referring to I already said that yes the FDA approved Comirnaty. Let me know where I can get that? Amazingly as that happened and two senior officers resigned from the FDA. 32 year veteran Marion Gruber, director of FDAs office of vaccines Research and review and Phillip Krause with 10 years her deputy in office. Nothing weird about that.
However we are talking about a lot of money here. People do horrible unspeakable things over money and I tend to believe people and especially doctors that gain nothing from their advice over someone being paid. So follow the money and see what decisions are being pushed that make huge profits for big pharm and which decisions are pushed for your better health.

Big pharm are like drug dealers. Repeat customers is where the moneys at. Treating sick peoples symptoms is far more lucrative than a cure where you only get paid once.
Just imagine what would happen to all the cold and flu medicines if they had a cure. Huge losses.. History has shown we have done it before and it will be done again. Large amounts of money is spent to insure people buy into a product that they know isn’t good for you but its money for them. Pandemics don’t need advertising campaigns and constant reminders.

  31. Kit Gerhart Says:

    @cwolf and Drew, Thank you

  32. Kit Gerhart Says:

29 Yes, the vaccine isn’t 100%, but it works well enough that if a high percentage of the population were vaccinatated, we would reach “herd immunity” with covid. 40-50% is not enough.

As far a mandates “taking yout rights away,” get serious. There are thousands of laws “taking rights away,” and mandates for kids to get certain vaccines to attend school, and was a requirement for me to get a yellow fewer shot when I went to Brazil a few years ago. Public health is everone’s business.

  33. XA351GT Says:

Lambo you forgot the part where they told us when Delta started showing up that is was more easy to catch ,but not as deadly. when that didn’t push people to get vaxxed they changed the story. So they either lied or didn’t know what they were talking about. But others feel that people are selfish for not blindly following their directives.

Kit, Israel has a nearly 85% vax rate and they are being hammered . So I dn’t think that flies . Also when you’re talking about vaccines kids are being given Like MMR and Polio those actually PREVENT the ability to get the disease. I don’t know what they are shooting into people , but it doesn’t fit the definition of a vaccine which is to provide IMMUNITY from the disease which this doesn’t provide , when you can still catch and transmit it. For lack of a better term it is like aspirin. It relieves symptoms it doesn’t prevent them. Taking this is akin to taking aspirin in the hopes of preventing a hangover before a night of hard drinking . No one can say this is safe 1 year from now ,5 years ,10 years they just don’t know and if they they ain’t telling us . When Big Pharma is given immunity from litigation when or if it goes bad should give everyone a reason think twice. If you feel it’s in your best interest to take it then do it. But to tell someone take something they have no idea what it will do over time or lose their job is bullshit,My job is considered essential I have worked from day 1 we have 25 people in our shop ,to date 557 days since the 1st lockdowns we had 3 people come down with Covid. all at the same time all had mild symptoms and were back to work asap. So why should I or any of my co-workers be forced to take this ?

  34. Kit Gerhart Says:

33 I don’t know where you get your (mis)information, but according to this, Israel has a vaccination rate of 64.08%

    https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations?country=OWID_WRL

Still, they are doing somewhat better than the US in regard to covid deaths.

  35. cwolf Says:

    https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-science-middle-east-public-health-coronavirus-vaccine-9ee6e5d46d29c08bf7610b39713b025e

Kit, this will support you. It will explain the rise due to factors like decreased efficacy over time and corrective measures. Un vaxed continues to have more serious cases, while booster shot, given to compensate for efficacy decline, is showing positive results.

Sometimes we have to ask the right questions as to why things happen the way they do.

  36. Kit Gerhart Says:

35 Interesting. Maybe “boosters” are needed more than I realized.

  37. Lambo2015 Says:

Thanks XA351GT at least someone can think for themselves.
All I’m gonna say is what you mentioned. If its so safe then why is no one being held legally liable if its not? Its so safe then put your money where your mouth is.

  38. Sean Wagner Says:

Thank you cwolf. Not everyone is an expert, and it’s not possible to substitute high intelligence, years of study, and a successful career in three minutes of internet browsing.

Lambo, you’re usually more logical. All US vaccine manufacturers work under reduced liability.

Incidentally, that’s not the case in the EU (no exorbitant punitive damages), where Pfizer’s vaccine was developed by the German “startup” BioNTech.

We should be grateful for scientists such as Uğur Şahin, his wife, and Katalin Karikó, who left UPenn after many frustrating years for BioNTech’s greener pastures. She made the key discovery that enables modern RNA biotech.

  39. Lambo2015 Says:

38 I don’t mind being called illogical or even stupid. Maybe I am wrong here but I have noticed no one was able to refute that the sole purpose of a vaccine like The Polio vaccine is to prevent a person from getting a disease. Which that one did. Yet This vaccine doesn’t prevent you from getting it or being a carrier. Its like Robotusin it masks your symptoms and makes getting it less severe. That’s not a vaccine by definition alone.
Yet when vac people are confronted with this very important fact its dismissed as not important and irrelevant. When they develop a vaccine that actually prevents me from getting CV I’ll get on board.

  40. William Nelson Says:

#30 – The link 23 copied correctly, but the last word copied ‘vaccine’ didn’t get included in the link. It works if the link gets the last word.
