Disappointed to see that Mazda will not have a newer transmission available for the launch of the CX-50. The old Aisin-design 6-speed is getting more than a little long in the tooth compared to virtually everyone else’s 8-, 9-, and/or 10- speed units. The one in my 2013 Mazda6 was bone-dead reliable, but due to it’s gearing and the relatively low final drive ratio, fuel economy at anything over 70 mph pretty much fell off the cliff, so to speak.

An off-road Mazda? Wow. What’s next? A two-door coupe from Jeep?

I’m wondering how much of the money that VW was fined will actually be used to help the environment. I either missed or never heard reported who got the cash. I do remember VW was involved with providing EV charging stations; so was that part of the cash settlement or did the actual dollar amount, surrendered in cash, go into someone’s general fund. The money should have been earmarked directly to reducing pollution, help in clean up but not etc., etc. (if you know what I mean).

4,5 I did a little off-roading with my Corvette Sunday, driving across a kind of muddy entrance to a model airplane field. I washed the mud off the lower area behind the wheels today.

  8. Kit Gerhart Says:

    This is pretty funny.
