    Audi bought engine designs and manufacturing equipment when the US car company Rickenbacker went bankrupt. Anyone know if they own the rights to the Rickenbacker name as well?

    Holy cow Brazil! 29% interest on car loans. That means on a $40,000 vehicle financed for 5 years your paying $36,180 in interest. About $1270 a month. Might be better to put in on your Discover card. lol At least you’d get 2% back.

    3 There’s a lot of incentive to buy what you can afford, and save money to buy new, rather than borrowing.

    It’s amazing the adaptations people make when living in countries that have no credible monetary policy. Living in North America we have no idea of the schemes they have to take to survive financially.

    No question Ford is growing on our EV selection list with this move to Tesla chargers. All the advantages of Tesla charging without Elon.

    School busses are a natural for electrification. Easy to program and it’s good for the children to get away from the pollution of gas and diesel. If they can make a bit on selling power back that will help school boards meet their budgets.

    @7 – While everyone focuses of Tesla’s vehicle sales, Elon has been using those sales for different financial reasons… initially to sell emission credits… and now to license access to his charging network.

    And I’m sure the EPA wouldn’t lie or exaggerate the affect of the regulations they come up with. Would like to see what an independent agency has to say about reduction in air pollutants. Don’t trust until verified (sorry Ronny).

    7 If in the market for an EV, I’d check out the Mach-E. I don’t like them calling it “mustang,” and the efficiency is not very good, but other than that, it looks ok.

    Kit, I don’t think I will be in the market for most EVs. I am not a “never EV” person, but I am a “never vinyl seat” person. I don’t care what they call it… MB Tex, Leatherette, Soft Touch, Eco Leather, ActiveX, etc. And nearly every EV has vinyl seats.

    $10,000 for bidirectional charging doesn’t make sense. DTE pays $0.08 / kWh (and proposes reducing to $0.035). $10,000 is 125,000 kWh s. That’s more than 320 kWh s a day, every day for a year. What kind of time perios are they talking?

    Still, EV for school buses makes sense given start stop nature a few hours each morning and a few in the afternoon and no long trips.

    13 I like cloth seats for the car I drive the most, and for short trips after sitting in the sun. My Mini has vinyl, but it is normally garaged when not driven

    My 1st choice is cloth seats. It is more recyclable than leather or vinyl. But most OEMs only offer cloth on their entry level trims. If you want upgraded tech features or trims with good looking wheels (not f’n black), then OEMs force you into vinyl or leather.

    17 I got the lowest trim Highlander Hybrid to get cloth seats. I’m missing a few things that are nice, like “homelink” and auto day-night mirror, but it has what I really want, a/c, heater, and cruise control. As a bonus, it has most of the current safety stuff and a power liftgate.

    Warning – Rant !!!

    My 2018 Forester XT Touring just got T boned while I was stopped in traffic. No injuries thankfully, but car total write off. Really want another Forester, but no turbos anymore. Why can’t I have a car that is fun, and safe, to drive without a bunch of distracting and useless ‘infotainment’. We all have cell phones for navigation/music (set it before driving, follow prompts/map/playlist). Why not spend that $2000 used for infotainment crapola and give us an option for a better car, instead of freaking ‘cellphone on wheels’. Sigh, exasperated.
