Synopsis

...this week's Autoline Detroit anchored from the 2007 SAE World Congress in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Amid the hundreds of exhibitors and technology seminars on future product are presentations by some of the top executives in the automotive industry. Three of those executives join Autoline Detroit from the convention floor to talk about the cutting edge issues of 2007.

Yasuhiko Ichihashi, President of Toyota's North American Technical Center talks with host John McElroy about today's "new engineering" taking place in the industry and how Toyota stays ahead of the curve.

From Germany, BMW's Dr. Wolfgang Epple offers his analysis concerning fuel alternatives and where BMW is placing its engineering emphasis.

And of course with so much concern today regarding cost and commonization, executives like General Motors' Bo Andersson, the Group VP of Global Purchasing, have a greater impact than ever before. He talks with John about GM's new approach to procuring the materials needed to run the world's #1 automaker.
