Magna Develops the Building Blocks for EVs & Autonomy – CES 2018

January 10, 2018 by John McElroy

Automotive suppliers can play a significant role in developing and selling autonomous technology to automakers. But different automakers will follow different strategies. Some OEMs will develop most of the technology in-house while others will buy it, and others will fall somewhere in between. That’s why Magna is developing different “building blocks” that will allow automakers to choose what they want to buy. But as Swamy Kotagiri points out, OEMs will only want to buy from suppliers who demonstrate a capability for full-system capability and who know how to harden it to automotive standards.
