Listening to your own music inside a car is a luxury that we now tend to take for granted. But before digital music files, CDs or cassette tapes came around, people were forced to listen to whatever the radio DJ wanted to play. That really changed in the mid-60′s when 8 Tracks were introduced. However, 8 Track wasn’t the only solution out there and the story of how the technology became the popular choice is very interesting. Author RJ King has written a book all about the 8 Track and we’re also joined in this interview by RJ’s father, John King, who was project engineer for the 8 Track tape player at Ford.

A fascinating look at the history and behind-the-scenes story of 8-tracks. So many names of industry giants, favorite products and manufacturers from days gone by. I can’t wait to get a copy and have RJ autograph mine.
