What is Farley smoking, does he really think he can decide who to compete against? If he has a profitable niche does he have the power to tell other not to enter that segment so he doesn’t have to compete? Each day brings more outlandish comments, he needs to get real!

  2. Lambo2015 Says:

1 Yea apparently Farley doesnt watch ALD or he would see what happened to Wuling who also had a profitable niche market. Sort of like what Ford did to Jeep with the Bronco. If there is money to be made someone is going to jump in.

Oh the disappointment the young girl will have when she sees the cute guy on the college campus with his Mercedes AMG key chain. Only to find out it goes to his scooter.

  4. MERKUR DRIVER Says:

    3) They made it through the Vette/Chevette years without much issue. I am sure they will be fine with an AMG scooter.

Good to hear that some governments are realizing that standards can’t exceed the existing tech. and punishing companies that can’t reach them doesn’t really help anyone. You have to crawl before walking and then running. These eco-warriors pushing these unmeetable standards will only accomplish killing jobs and businesses.

#4 Never saw a crossed flags emblem on a Chevette keychain . So I doubt anyone ever mistook the 2 .

  7. Kit Gerhart Says:

I wonder if Ford will consider making cars again, if the great American truck fetish ever subsides.

What is funny to me is the 8 European nations that are only now pushing back, the EU regulations, that they agreed-upon, that must be met by 2030! Weren’t they in the room when they agreed-upon it, and also cast a vote in agreement for the legislation?! Look what happens when you just go along and follow the crowd! LOL
Relative to tariffs on Chinese imports in the Europe, while vehicles from BYD would be pretty clear. What about the Lotus Eletra and the other Lotus models, built in China? If they allow those vehicles in EU with no tariffs, what about other vehicles built by Geely (Zeekr, Link and Co, etc.), Lotus’ owner, which were built in their China and perhaps in the same assembly plant? I believe Polestar will be building most of their vehicles along side Volvo, in their plants, so that might be an issue with them. I don’t see how they could give Lotus vehicles built in China a pass on tariffs and then hit other Geely brands with out, especially if they all came out of then same production plant.

@ 8 I’m sure they were in the room they also after time to sit back a nd really give it a hard look and the progress or lack there of depending on one’s view point realized that it will do more harm than good. Who hasn’t heard a pitch they thought sounded great and then wound up with buyer’s remorse when you realized it wasn’t as rosey as pitched ? maybe they realized that unless they like China build 2 power plants every week won’t be able to handle they demand for power and exactly how they will generate that power dependably and whether the infrastructure in place currently can handle that load. Maybe once they started adding up all those costs they started thinking better of it.

  10. Lambo2015 Says:

9 Yeah if a good sales pitch didn’t work no one would buy Timeshares. I have a feeling that when this proposed roll out was made they spoke about how everyone is going to want EVs and they need to get the regulation in to keep up with demand. Demand that really isn’t there. At least not at the rate they wanted. Thats why I have no doubt the ICE ban of 2035 will get pushed back and concessions will be made. It was an aggressive goal but one that will be off target.

  11. wmb Says:

#9, 10) In all seriousness, as both of you have suggested, be it quiet reflection, push back from automakers or the ever changing nature of politics, these eight EU nations don’t see themselves in the best situation by 2030-35 year date.
