LFPs versus vanadium flow through batteries for static storage
The key attributes for a battery making partner is BOTH a) rapid manufacturing method optimization and improvement and b) R/D in battery chemistry improvement (for energy density and manufacturability). LG have themself VERY stretched trying to put us SO MANY new manufacturing facilities. LG has to make sure they invest VERY HEAVILY in the future. Today’s NMCs will be behind the times in 3 years max.
A battery maker needs to be nimble and future-focussed.
Much of what LG’s pres talked about were things that matter to today and productivity in the immediate future.
Battery swapping – it takes 5 min for the person that is 1st in line at the station. It’s 20-25 for the person 4th in line.
