The most telling comments were at the end when the panel discussed the gas savings of hybrids. A 50% reduction in gas cost for a hybrid is a powerful incentive that outweighs all others. Then paying 33% of hybrid costs in electricity grabs buyer’s by the pocket book and makes either PHEV or pure EVs the no nonsense choice. For example, my 2019 Model 3 costs $2.50/100 miles and the 2017 BMW i3-REx is $2.75/100 miles in EV mode daily driver.
On the highway, the abundance of fast DC chargers, both SuperChargers and CCS-1, brings Tesla costs to $7.00/100 miles which is cheaper than the BMW at $10/100 miles on gas. Never forget that Edison predicted that with the electric light bulb, “only the rich will be able to afford candles.” The same applies to gas and diesel powered cars.
i started watching but got bored after 20 min or so.
