Excellent show. I could relate to “so” much of what was said. I was already 60 when I did my first track event at a Gingerman tune and test evening event. I had a 100 mile drive to get there in my Honda S2000. I was so excited but totally completely exhausted from that first time, I couldn’t believe it. The 100 mile drive home was a killer. lol. I would have given anything to have been young enough to attend driver’s school(s) and take advantage of the options offered in the show. Still I put in a roll-bar and did the best I could considering I had my ankle strapped up as tight as possible (it’s since been fused) and I got to tracks like Beaver Run near Pittsburgh for lasting memories.
@DLQ, we have drivers in their 70s going thru Drivers School for the first time. The best time to start racing was 20 years ago, the second best time is NOW
Now in my 70s and try to do track schooling every few years. Yes track schooling is adrenaline drenching. It also makes me a better driver. Should be mandatory for all drivers.
Another education that transfers over is learning to drive a motorcycle. In a motorcycle everyone in a cage is trying to hit you. More awareness when driving a car.
