Silicon Valley startup Mantle developed a CNC hybrid printer that prints tool steel inserts for injection molding. The system deposits a metal paste and then evaporates out a solvent, which can then be machined in a soft state. And the end result after sintering it is, you’re able to make tools in a lot less time and money than it takes traditionally. Mantle CEO Kim Hayashi explains the whole process.
