Driving China’s Hottest EV Around Detroit – Autoline Exclusives

Home appliance/phone maker Xiaomi only started selling cars about two years ago, but it’s already one of the hottest brands in China. Vehicle benchmarking specialist Caresoft is getting ready to tear down its second model to go on sale, the YU7 crossover. Thankfully, before they started ripping into it, they asked us if we’d like to get some time behind the wheel. Check out the vehicle that has Chinese consumers rushing into dealer showrooms.

    As you opened the rear lift back, I was thinking that Xiaomi is looking well past Model Y toward an affordable competitor to Porsche Taycan CrossTurismo. The drivetrain specs are in Porsche’s league, as well as the charging capabilities. SU7 was HiPerf focussed, and YU7, if suspension is properly adaptive, may be in Taycan CT league too. Probably why so many folks were looking at IAAA.
